A Seamless Fit Out for Office Space in Central London

SIG Interiors London Heathrow branch recently played a key role in the refurbishment of the i2 Offices in central London. i2 Office specialise in serviced offices and are a regular customer of main contractors, Construction & Shopfitting Ltd (C&S).

A section of the i2 Offices in London required refurbishing to be sublet to executives from the Direct Line Group (DLG), who had exacting standards. The pressure was on to create offices with a modern and professional feel in just three weeks. SIG Interiors was chosen to provide the solution as C&S was confident they could provide the solution as quickly as DLG were expecting. SIG Interiors was chosen by C&S to provide materials for the project because of their expertise and ability to meet C&S’s delivery schedule. Having worked together on numerous previous projects, SIG Interiors  had proved they could keep pace with the company’s busy schedule.

SIG Interiors’ Dave Sheppard helped C&S select the correct system for this project which was complex due to the need for getting floor to ceiling sized materials into the building. The products selected were the Tenon Fire & Sound System and the Tenon Vitrage (dB) 12mm toughened double glazed seamless glass, with integral full height glass doors, which is an unusual product combination that required a close working relationship between SIG Interiors and C&S to install successfully. Speedline metal systems 75mm stud and track was used to complement the Tenon Fire & Sound System. The high spec finish and use of glass gave the offices plenty of natural light and a sleek finish.

Nick Smith, C&S’s Managing Director, said,

“The project itself was part of a much larger fit out which we had been doing on the second floor of 40 Gracechurch Street for i2 Office. In effect we had two different clients within the same floor, i2 Office, which was looking for us to provide their standard offering and DLG, which was looking for something with the ‘wow factor’. SIG Interiors  were already our preferred supplier and we sat down with Dave Sheppard, told him what we wanted and the Tenon team delivered exactly what was required.”

Due to the central London location, site deliveries had to be made early in the morning to allow goods to be offloaded into the site without causing disruption to surrounding roads and businesses. Another factor to consider was that the project had to be completed within three weeks.

Nick said,

“As a company we deliver solutions with a very quick turnaround – the original brief was for timber frames and doors which had been supplied and fitted, however with 7 days to go the client changed their mind and wanted glass doors. Following my call to Dave on the Friday night, he met me on site Monday morning and 5 days later the glass doors were fitted. Both clients are delighted, I know it’s a cliché but it really was on time and on budget and even when the customer changed their mind, SIG Interiors delivered the bespoke items to us so we could ensure the same deadline was kept.”

Dave Sheppard from Tenon said,

“This project was one of several we’ve worked on with C&S this year and our relationship with the company is going from strength to strength.”

The £20k refurbishment project was completed to schedule in September 2012.
