SIG Interiors Support Award Winning Fit Out at Loughborough University
The Facilities Management Offices at Loughborough University needed a redesign which would inspire and motivate staff members, without compromising the practicality of this busy workspace. SIG Interiors Aston branch was on hand to supply specialist products to this award-winning project.
The £415k refurbishment project led by Paragon Interiors Group plc won the coveted AIS Interior Gold Award (sponsored by BG) for their fit out work at Loughborough University. As the focus was on a contemporary, inspiring look for the workspace, the project demanded innovative products which Paragon looked to SIG Interiors to provide.
SIG Interiors reputation for its performance, cost and reliability of service as well as stocking a superb range of products at competitive prices, meant that SIG Interiors was the obvious choice to supply the materials. SIG Interiors supplied a range of specialist products including Armstrong Dune Supreme 600 x 600 Tegular 24mm grid ceilings, fire cladding to beams, Speedline drywall studs, a single glazed Tenon Vitrage partition with a glass door and solid core beech doors.
The eight week project included the strip out, design and build of existing office space to make the space inspirational and motivational to the staff members who use the Facilities Management Offices.
The bright and light offices were designed to enhance the working environment and create a fun and motivational space which would inspire the people who work in it. Paragon never lost sight of the need for the space to be practical and the design incorporates versatile areas such as breakout spaces and meeting areas.
The clever ceiling design involved suspended and MF ceilings and bulkheads which formed a 3D effect on the ceiling within the open plan area, which not only looked distinctive but also offered access to the ceiling’s electrical and mechanical services. MF curved walls, orangebox pods and timber slats were used to create a number of private breakout areas.
These breakout areas are divided from the main open plan office area by the use of a single glazed frameless Tenon Vitrage partition and door which allows light to flow through both areas. The design made the most of the building’s existing features, including the striking exposed steel beams located in the ceilings and corridors which are now incorporated into the contemporary design.
Mark Ross, Paragon Interiors’ Senior Site Manager, was delighted with SIG Interiors work on the project. He said,
“SIG Interiors provided excellent service and communication throughout the whole project. They had a complete understanding of our requirements and were able to meet very tight deadlines with their fast track products and quality materials.”
Kate Underhill from SIG Interiors said,
“The job ran extremely smoothly thanks to the excellent communication Paragon and SIG Interiors have. We’ve worked on a number of projects together and have developed a great working relationship. Paragon is a forward thinking company which makes it easier for us to plan our product selection and delivery. Working with Paragon is always exciting as they tend to ‘think outside the box’ when it comes to product selection which means we can work with them to find the most innovative products for a project.”
